An early fruiting variety, bearing blackberries earlier than most other thornless species. The Rubus fruticosus ‘Black Satin’ is a newer breed requiring little maintenance aside from the occasional pruning, which makes it a great choice for less seasoned gardeners. The thornless canes carry dark green foliage and white flowers from the Summer which are followed by glossy blackberries with a sharp, full flavour. Plant in moist, well-drained, neutral soil and keep in full or partial sun. Water regularly until properly established but avoid waterlogging. Some longer canes may require supports. Heat tolerant.
