22MP Full Frame Sensor 6 frames per second burst rate Full HD video recording 100-25600 ISO range Weather sealing Superseding the highly successful Canon EOS 5D Mark II, the new Canon EOS 5D Mark III updates and improves on what was already a superb professional DSLR. From the 22MP Full Frame sensor to the ability to shoot Full HD video – with manual controls – the EOS 5D Mark III has a feature list to satisfy videographers and photographers. It features a 6fps burst rate with constant autofocus, as well as an expandable ISO range of between 100 and 25600 making the EOS 5D Mark III ideal for shooting sports. To add to the rapid-shooting credentials a 61-point AF system has been introduced, with 41 cross-type points, making the Canon EOS 5D Mark III accurate as well as fast. The crowning glory of this DSLR, and the element which sets it apart from the more hobbyist-aimed models, is the 22.3MP Full Frame sensor. Thanks to the DIGIC 5+ processor the EOS 5D Mark III is also able to take large numbers of hi-res images in quick succession. Much like the EOS 5D Mark II, which is still very popular for video, the EOS 5D Mark III boasts the ability to take 1080p resolution footage at either 30, 25 or 24 frames per second, alongside an external mike input and full manual exposure controls. Audio can also be both monitored via on-screen levels and adjusted to avoid sound distortion, which is a very useful extra for short-film makers. In all, the Canon EOS 5D Mark III is a fantastic model well worth considering for a variety of usages. Whether it’s shooting hi-res stills, HD video or taking images of fast-moving action this DSLR is a superb prospect for any serious photographer.
