A low growing variegated, evergreen, perennial grass. Position: full sun or partial shade Soil: fertile, moist, well-drained soil Rate of growth: average Flowering period: April to June Hardiness: fully hardy A small, evergreen, ornamental grass that forms low hummocks of striking dark green leaves with a central strip of creamy yellow. In mid to late spring it bears brown flowerspikes on long stems. 'Evergold' looks good planted with other ornamental grasses with contrasting foliage such as Festuca glauca and Carex buchananii . Garden care: Comb through the plant in winter with your fingers to remove dead foliage and snip out any leaves in summer. Feed with a general purpose fertiliser during the growing season and if necessary, lift and divide over-large clumps in early spring.
