A stunning artwork of a butterfly collection created from the pages of classic literature This beautiful handmade artwork is a collection of single cut paper butterflies created from the Literary Classic, Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare. A stunning gift for any lover of literature each handcut butterfly is subtley edged in gold and varies in size and shape to form a unique fluttering pattern. The butterflies are set on a background of the manipulated text of the novel which then flows up the sides of the box frame. This work is part of a series of works based on literature, inspired by my fascination with museum collections. The book has been chosen for its meaning, the visual quality of the paper and the print style. I use second-hand, damaged and unloved books for these artworks. A personalised version based on a favourite book, poem, piece of music or map can be commissioned as a special gift.
