If you are looking to use a magnet then you need a steel surface, or another magnet, to attract to. A magnet will attract to a steel surface in direct contact with equal strength as a magnet to magnet arrangement, therefore, self-adhesive steel discs can sometimes provide a more cost-effective solution. However, it is important to remember that if there is a gap between the two, then a magnet to magnet attraction will be stronger. These small white painted steel discs are supplied with convenient, strong 3M self-adhesive on one side which means they can be stuck to almost any hard, flat surface to create a magnetic surface.
